چکیده

pesticides are one of the most pollutants in aquatic ecosystems. monitoring of aquatic pollution with these compounds is very important. therefore, health status of aquatic animals can be used as a bio-indicator for pollution monitoring in surface waters. diazinon is an organophosphorous pesticide, which is found in the aquatic environment of iran. the concern has arisen over the ability of this compound to affect the health of fish in recent years. in this study, the effects of exposure to sub-lethal concentrations of diazinon on some biochemical parameters of rainbow trout, oncorhynchus mykiss were examined after 7, 14 and 28 days. acetylcholinesterase (aceh) activity and the levels of total protein, albumin as well as globulin in plasma were significantly reduced at 0.1 and 0.2 mg/l concentrations tested (p

Rainbow Trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss

Rainbow trout are classified as Oncorhynchus mykiss, and as such belong to the same genus as Pacific salmon, and to the family Salmonidae, which includes Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), various trout (Salvelinus sp.), Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus), Arctic grayling (Thymallus arcticus) and whitefish (Coregonus sp.). Rainbow trout are native to areas around the North Pacific Ocean, from souther...

Effects of acute exposure to bifenthrin on some haematological, biochemical and histopathological parameters of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

The effect of the pyrethroid, bifenthrin, on rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) was assessed based on biochemical, haematological and histopathological examination of fish exposed to Talstar 10 EC pesticide preparation (active substance 100 g/l bifenthrin) at a concentration of 14.7 μg/l. There was a significant (P < 0.01) decrease in plasma ammonia, and significant (P < 0.01) increase in gluc...

Effects of cadmium at sub-lethal concentration on growth and biochemical parameters in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

Cadmium (Cd), as one of heavy metals and an environmental stressor, may alter many physiological processes like growth and serum parameters in fish. The main objective of this study was to determine the effects of cadmium at sub-lethal concentrations (1 and 3 μg/l) on growth and serum biochemical parameters including enzymes, i.e. alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and...

Biochemical characterization of microcystin toxicity in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).

The kinetics and biochemical effects of microcystins in rainbow trout were studied with freeze-dried toxic cells of Microcystis aeruginosa, strain PCC 7806. Following in vivo exposure the changes in liver histology were observed over a 72 hr period and the absorption of microcystins from the gastrointestinal tract into the blood and liver, as well as the inhibition of hepatic protein phosphatas...
